Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting

1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt

1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast

1 3/4 cups lukewarm water (about 100°F)

1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for flavor)

Cornmeal (for dusting the pizza stone)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the lukewarm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Add the sea salt to the yeast mixture, stirring until dissolved. If using, mix in the olive oil.

Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing vigorously with a wooden spoon or dough whisk until it forms a shaggy dough.

Once all the flour is incorporated, cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp kitchen towel. Let it rise at room temperature for at least 8 hours, or overnight for a deeper flavor.

After the dough has risen, generously flour a clean surface and turn out the dough. Divide it into 4 equal portions for personal pizzas or leave it whole for a large pizza.

Gently shape each piece into a ball, tucking the edges underneath. Place the dough balls on a floured baking sheet and cover them again with a damp towel. Let them rest for 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to the highest setting (usually around 475-500°F) and place a pizza stone or inverted baking sheet inside to heat up.

Once rested, stretch or roll out the dough on a floured surface until you achieve your desired thickness. Place it on a piece of parchment paper or a floured pizza peel.

Add your favorite toppings and carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated stone or baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and enjoy your artisan pizza!
