Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

½ cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Mix until well combined.

Add the brown sugar to the banana mixture and stir until smooth.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using, until evenly distributed.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, cut into squares and serve with a drizzle of melted chocolate or a dusting of powdered sugar for an extra touch.
