Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets

3 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece ginger, minced

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1/2 cup beef broth

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Cooked white rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, one tablespoon of cornstarch, and black pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for about 20 minutes.

Prepare the Broccoli: While the beef is marinating, bring a pot of water to boil. Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for about 2 minutes until bright green. Drain and set aside.

Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and beef broth. Set aside.

Sear the Beef: Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and let it sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, until browned. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until just cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine Everything: Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet, then return the cooked beef to the pan. Pour in the sauce and stir well to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

Serve: Remove from heat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve hot over cooked white rice or noodles.
