Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

3 cups broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/4 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Toasted sesame seeds and green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Blanch the Broccoli: In a pot of boiling water, blanch the broccoli florets for about 2 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Cook the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the skillet in a single layer. Allow it to sear for about 2 minutes without stirring, then stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through.

Combine Ingredients: Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet. Pour in beef broth, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir everything together to combine and simmer for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve the stir-fry over cooked jasmine rice. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
