Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 bell pepper (red or green), diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp Cajun seasoning

1 tsp smoked paprika

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)

2 tsp olive oil

4 hamburger buns

1 cup shredded lettuce (for serving)

1/2 cup sliced pickles (for serving)

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

Sauté Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Cook Chicken: Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground chicken to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Season and Simmer: Stir in the tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Reduce the heat to low, allow the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors melded.

Toast Buns (optional): While the chicken mixture simmers, lightly toast the hamburger buns on a separate pan or under the broiler until golden brown.

Assemble Sloppy Joes: Spoon a generous amount of the Cajun chicken mixture onto each toasted bun. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced pickles, and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese if desired.

Serve & Enjoy: Serve the delicious Cajun chicken sloppy joes hot, and enjoy the spicy, savory goodness!
