Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 large onion, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 yellow bell pepper, sliced

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked white rice or noodles (for serving)

Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for 15-20 minutes while preparing the vegetables.

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated steak in a single layer; sauté for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion and bell peppers. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until they become tender but still crisp.

Next, add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the vegetables. Stir-fry for another minute until fragrant.

Return the cooked steak to the skillet. Add oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Toss everything together to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to warm through.

Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot over cooked white rice or noodles.
